Time Zone Tips: Sending Flowers from Malaysia to Vietnam

By the Vietnam Flower Delivery team · 2026-11-06

Malaysia runs UTC+8; Vietnam runs UTC+7—you're always one hour ahead, so an 8 p.m. order in Kuala Lumpur lands in our system at 7 p.m. Vietnam time, giving us a narrow evening window to confirm and prep. If you order after 8 p.m. Malaysia time, delivery typically shifts to the next day because our Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City shops close by 9 p.m. Vietnam time. Payment clears faster via international card (2–4 hours) than bank transfer (24–48 hours), so card speeds same-day confirmation. We photograph the real bouquet before dispatch, adding a 30–60 minute buffer. Order by 7 p.m. Malaysia time (6 p.m. Vietnam) on a weekday to lock same-day delivery; weekends require 48 hours notice. Winter and peak seasons (Tet, Mother's Day, March 8) compress availability—ask for a quote as soon as you plan. How sending from abroad works

Why does the one-hour gap matter more than you think?

You assume one hour is a small margin—it is not. Our Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City shops operate 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Vietnam time, six days a week. A 7:30 p.m. Malaysia order (6:30 p.m. Vietnam) lands with 30 minutes to spare: we photograph, confirm payment, and brief the driver. An 8:15 p.m. Malaysia order (7:15 p.m. Vietnam) arrives after closing—your bouquet queues for next morning, and the recipient waits an extra 12–20 hours. Malaysia's single hour of buffer is real, but it shrinks if you're in the eastern states (Sabah, Sarawak) where local time flexes, or if you're juggling office hours and lunch breaks. Weekends and public holidays (both countries' calendars matter) add a full day—Vietnam recognizes Tet, Malaysia observes Chinese New Year, and both shut for national holidays. Check both calendars before committing to a date.

How do you lock in same-day delivery across the time zone?

Same-day delivery is possible but requires exact timing and card payment. We confirm payment within 2 hours and text a photo of your exact bouquet. Delivery happens 2–7 p.m. the same day (Vietnam hours). If you order Friday evening Malaysia time, delivery is Monday—not Saturday, because our drivers work Mon–Sat and the shop restocks Sunday. Bank transfer orders are OK, but add one full day to your timeline—useful if you're booking a week ahead anyway. International cards occasionally decline due to fraud filters; have a backup card ready, or call your bank to pre-authorize Vietnam transactions.

What address and phone format do you absolutely need?

Vietnamese addresses follow a pattern: house number + street + ward (phường) + district (quận, huyện) + city (Hà Nội or Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh). Example: "47 Ngô Thì Nhâm Street, Hàng Bạc Ward, Hoàn Kiếm District, Hanoi" or "123 Nguyễn Huệ Boulevard, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City." Avoid postal codes (Vietnam's system is recent and unpredictable); use the ward + district instead. Phone numbers must start with +84 9, +84 10, or +84 8 (mobile carriers); landlines starting +84 4 (Hanoi) or +84 28 (HCMC) work but reach fewer recipients. WhatsApp the address as a single text block, not split across lines—our drivers read it on mobile and confirm via the recipient's mobile call or SMS. If the address is in a gated compound or apartment tower, add building name and apartment floor (e.g., "A3 Tower, Unit 802, 101 Pham Van Dong Street…"). Missing flat numbers cause 30–60 minute delays. If you have the recipient's Vietnamese mobile, include it; if not, we'll ask. Never use English romanizations of street names if you're unsure—ask the recipient directly or copy the Vietnamese address from Google Maps.

How do card payments and currency work from Malaysia to Vietnam?

We accept Visa and Mastercard issued in Malaysia, Singapore, or any country, priced in USD. Your Malaysian bank converts MYR to USD at the current spot rate, plus 2–3% foreign exchange fee—this happens automatically when your card is charged. No extra fee from us. Payment is processed within 2 hours if submitted before 6 p.m. Malaysia time; after that, it's queued for morning (Vietnam time). Bank transfers take longer: 24–48 hours from Malaysian banks to our account in Vietnam, and we don't confirm delivery until funds clear. If you're unsure whether card payment is faster, ask us for a quote on WhatsApp—we'll advise per your bank's usual clearance time. Cards charged in USD mean your Malaysian bank statement shows the USD amount, not MYR; if that matters for expense reporting, ask your accountant about transfer pricing.

What seasonal and holiday traps should you anticipate?

Vietnam's Tet (lunar new year, dates vary yearly—2026 falls in late January) shuts all flower shops for 3–7 days, and delivery queues build a week before. If you're sending Tet flowers, order for Tet flowers & gifts and book 10 days early. Mother's Day (second Sunday in May) and Women's Day flowers (March 8) are peak—orders placed 5+ days in advance get premium bouquets, while last-minute orders may get simpler designs. Malaysia's public holidays (Chinese New Year, Aidilfitri, Deepavali) don't affect our Vietnam shops, so you can order then. Vietnam's public holidays (Tet, Reunification Day April 30, National Day September 2) do close us—plan around them. Typhoon season (September–November) doesn't stop delivery in Hanoi or HCMC, but certain imported flowers (peonies, hydrangeas) become scarce in summer; ask us for a quote and we'll suggest local alternatives. Winter (December–February) is ideal: all flowers abundant, no weather delays, and cool trucks preserve freshness during drive-time. Christmas and New Year's Eve aren't Vietnamese holidays, so delivery is normal—useful if you're sending Western colleagues stationed in Vietnam.

What mistakes do Malaysia senders make and how do you prevent them?

Wrong city. We deliver Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City only. Check the recipient's exact city before ordering. We'll tell you plainly if it's outside our range.

Address too vague. Our driver calls the recipient three times and wastes 45 minutes searching. Always include ward (phường) and, for high-rises, building name and flat number.

Wrong phone format. You submit "+84-9-1234-5678" (dashes, formatted oddly). Our driver's software can't parse it. Send "+84 912 345 678" (spaces, standard). Or send the number as the recipient gave it to you.

Late Friday order for Saturday delivery. You order 8 p.m. Friday Malaysia time (7 p.m. Friday Vietnam), expecting Saturday delivery. Our shops work Mon–Sat; we don't prep Sunday. Your bouquet arrives Monday instead. Order by Wednesday to lock weekend delivery.

Bank transfer without notice. You send MYR from your Malaysian account to our USD account, bank takes 48 hours, and then sends us a confusing currency-converted amount. We don't know which order you're paying for. Always WhatsApp us the amount and your order before transferring.

Peak season last-minute. You order March 7 at 11 p.m. for March 8 Women's Day delivery. Thousands of Malaysia senders do this too. We're out of premium roses. Send Women's Day flowers or birthday flowers designs as backup, or accept a simpler bouquet. Plan March 8 orders by March 3.

FAQ

What if I'm in Malaysia but the recipient moves to Thailand—can you deliver there?

No. We deliver Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City only. For Thailand, Australia, or other countries, ask your recipient to use a local florist. We serve cross-border orders to Vietnam, not from Vietnam outward.

My Malaysian bank card keeps declining. What do I do?

Call your bank and tell them you're sending USD to Vietnam—fraud filters often block international botanical payments. Ask them to pre-authorize our Vietnam transactions. Have a second Mastercard or Visa ready as backup. WhatsApp us the problem and we'll hold your bouquet slot for 2 hours while you sort it.

Can I order a bouquet for Monday if I'm in Malaysia on Friday evening?

Yes, if you order by 6 p.m. Malaysia time Friday (card payment). It arrives Monday 2–7 p.m. Vietnam time. If you order Saturday or Sunday (Malaysia), Monday is still the earliest delivery because our Vietnam shops don't prep Sunday. Always check Vietnam's calendar—if Monday is a public holiday, delivery shifts to Tuesday.

I gave a landline phone (+84 4 …) instead of a mobile. Will delivery fail?

Not fail, but delay. Our driver calls the mobile network first; a landline often reaches an office switchboard or elderly person who doesn't understand, adding 30–60 minutes. If you've already sent the order, WhatsApp us immediately with a mobile number. We'll update the driver before dispatch.

The recipient is in Ho Chi Minh City but I can't find their exact ward name. How do I order?

Copy the full address from Google Maps (including ward/phường name) and paste it into WhatsApp to us. If Google can't confirm it, ask the recipient directly—they'll know their ward. Avoid guessing: wrong ward = wrong route + late delivery. We'll ask for clarification before confirming.
