Time Zone Tips: Sending Flowers from Canada to Vietnam

By the Vietnam Flower Delivery team · 2026-11-06

Vietnam is 13–15 hours ahead of Canada depending on whether daylight saving applies; Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are one hour apart in practice but use the same time zone. When you order from Canada via WhatsApp, we receive your message during our daytime in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City—usually within minutes. To ensure same-day delivery, order before 9 a.m. Vietnam time (9 p.m. Eastern the night before, or 6 p.m. Pacific). We prepare your bouquet fresh that morning, take a photo of the real arrangement for your approval, and deliver it the same day in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City only. Payment is by international card or bank transfer. Hoa Lang Thang delivers imported and local fresh flowers; expect confirmation within 2–3 hours and delivery within 6–8 hours of your approval. Why time zones matter more than you think

Your order timing determines whether your bouquet is made the same day or next day. In Canada, you might think "early morning" means 8 a.m. your time—but that's already 9 p.m. or later in Hanoi. Calculate your own time zone offset: if you are in Eastern Canada, add 13 hours; if you are in Pacific Canada, add 15 hours. Set a phone reminder for 8 p.m. your time the evening before the delivery date so you order while our morning is still young. Many senders from Canada miss this window and discover too late that their flower order was queued for the next day.

What address format does Vietnam actually require?

Vietnamese addresses follow a street number, street name, ward, district, city pattern—nothing like Canadian postal codes. The recipient's full name, phone number (beginning with +84 or 0), and street address must be exact; a small error (wrong ward name or missing house number) costs hours of failed delivery attempts. Provide the building number as clearly as you can: "3A Tran Hung Dao Street" is better than "Building near the market." Include the full name of the district and city (e.g., "District 1, Ho Chi Minh City" or "Ba Dinh District, Hanoi"). We ask for this information on WhatsApp before confirming; our driver uses it to navigate streets and apartment complexes. If the address is incomplete, we contact you immediately. Many Canadian senders assume their recipient knows their own address well enough—but we need the exact legal address or landmark to deliver on time.

How does payment work across borders?

We accept international credit cards (Visa, Mastercard) and bank transfers. When you order on WhatsApp, we give you a quote and payment details. Credit card payment is processed securely and confirmed within minutes; bank transfers from Canada can take 1–3 business days, so if you need same-day delivery, choose a card. No hidden fees or currency markups—ask us for a quote on WhatsApp and we tell you the total in Canadian dollars or your home currency. We do not hold payment until the bouquet is photographed; you pay upfront, then we confirm the arrangement with a photo before delivery. This protects both you and us: you see exactly what the recipient is getting, and we know payment has cleared before we buy flowers. Some international flower services add "processing fees" or hold payment for days; we keep the process fast and transparent.

Photograph approval: your safety net before delivery

After you approve payment, we source fresh flowers the same morning, arrange them by hand in our Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City shop, and send you a full photograph of the bouquet before it leaves for delivery. You have 15–30 minutes to approve the photo, request changes, or ask us to re-make it if something is not right. This step is unique to our service: most online florists deliver first and apologize later. You see the real size, colors, and style—not a template picture. Canadian senders often worry about "what will actually arrive"—this photo eliminates that worry. Once you approve the photo, we deliver the same day; the recipient receives a fresh arrangement that matches exactly what you saw on your phone in Canada.

Which occasions need special flower choices for Vietnam?

OccasionFlower typeRecipientWhy it matters
BirthdayRoses, sunflowers, tulipsFamily, friends, partnersBright, cheerful colors signal celebration; avoid white or yellow roses (reserved for funerals).
Mother's Day (May 12)Pink roses, carnationsMothers, auntsPink conveys gratitude and feminine grace in Vietnamese tradition.
Women's Day (March 8)Red or pink rosesFemale colleagues, partnersRomantic and respectful; very popular in Vietnam on this date.
Tet (Lunar New Year)Kumquat, peach blossoms, yellow flowersExtended family, business contactsYellow and gold symbolize prosperity; live potted plants or branches are preferred over cut bouquets.
Funeral or death anniversaryWhite lilies, chrysanthemumsFamily in mourningWhite and chrysanthemums are solemn; avoid red, pink, or gifts that suggest celebration.
Grand opening or business eventBold reds, golds, basket arrangementsOwners, managersVibrant colors and basket displays show respect for the milestone.

Each occasion carries different meanings in Vietnamese culture. Birthday flowers should never include chrysanthemums (reserved for funerals). Mother's Day flowers are especially popular because May 12 is a national holiday. Women's Day flowers on March 8 are a business and personal tradition. Tet flowers are potted plants or branches, not cut bouquets (cut flowers symbolize cutting ties). Sympathy flowers must follow strict color rules: white or pale yellow only. If you are unsure, describe the occasion on WhatsApp and we recommend the right design. Sending the wrong flower type can hurt feelings or seem disrespectful, even if you intended well.

How to avoid the five most common mistakes

Ordering too late. You send your message at 10 p.m. Eastern, thinking that is "early morning." By then it is already tomorrow afternoon in Hanoi, and same-day delivery is gone. Set a reminder for 8 p.m. your time the night before the desired delivery date.

Incomplete address. You write "123 Main Street, Ho Chi Minh City" without the ward or district. Our driver cannot find it. Always include ward name, district name, and a mobile phone number for the recipient (starting with +84 or 0).

Mixing up payment and confirmation. You send payment but do not approve the photo. We cannot deliver without your sign-off. Wait for the photo, approve it, and only then will we load the bouquet into the van.

Assuming same delivery speed as domestic Canada. Fresh flower delivery in Vietnam is same-day only during business hours (roughly 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.). You cannot order at 11 p.m. Canada time and expect 7 a.m. Vietnam delivery. Order the evening before, not the morning of.

Forgetting the recipient's phone number. We need their mobile number (not their home phone, not their office) to confirm delivery and let them know the driver is arriving. Without it, the driver waits outside and the bouquet does not reach them.

What to check before you order

  • Time zone math: Calculate your local time + 13–15 hours = Vietnam time. Verify it is still morning there.
  • City availability: We deliver only in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Address completeness: Street number, street name, ward, district, city, and recipient's mobile phone number (starting with +84 or 0).
  • Occasion appropriateness: Confirm the flower type fits the event (no chrysanthemums for birthdays, no red for funerals).
  • Payment method: If same-day delivery is essential, use a credit card, not a bank transfer.
  • Photo approval timing: You will have 15–30 minutes to approve the photograph. Be ready to respond quickly.
  • Recipient availability: Let them know roughly when to expect the delivery (morning, afternoon). Missing a delivery because no one is home wastes the whole arrangement.

FAQ

If I order at 9 p.m. Eastern, can it be delivered the next morning in Vietnam?

No. At 9 p.m. Eastern, it is already evening or night in Hanoi. Order at 8 p.m. Eastern or earlier to hit the same-day delivery window. Morning orders are filled throughout our business day; afternoon orders queue for next-day delivery.

What if the address my recipient gave me is wrong?

Tell us immediately after you place the order. Our team will contact you on WhatsApp to confirm the correct address before we buy flowers. A wrong address creates delays and failed delivery attempts.

Can I add a message in Vietnamese on the card?

Yes. Write your message in English on WhatsApp, and we will include a card in Vietnamese or English, as you prefer. Vietnamese cards are more personal and appreciated by recipients.

How fresh are the flowers when they arrive?

Flowers are arranged fresh the morning of delivery and delivered the same day (usually within 6–8 hours of your photo approval). They last 5–7 days in a vase with fresh water. Bouquets delivered in the evening are fresher than those delivered mid-day because they were arranged later.
