Funeral Wreath Vietnam: How to Order from Abroad

By the Vietnam Flower Delivery team · 2026-11-06

A funeral wreath is a standing or hung floral arrangement, typically 60–90 cm across, made from fresh chrysanthemums, roses, and greenery—sent to a funeral service or home altar to honor the deceased. Vietnam Flower Delivery by Hoa Lang Thang delivers wreaths to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City only; we do not serve other cities, so check the recipient's location first. Ordering from abroad takes 5–10 business days: you order on WhatsApp with a photo of the recipient's address and phone number, we send a photo of your real bouquet before delivery, you pay by international card or bank transfer, and the family receives the wreath on the funeral date. A wreath typically costs more than a bouquet (ask us for a quote on WhatsApp based on size and flowers). Vietnamese funeral custom calls for white, cream, or pale pink blooms—never red or bright colors, which signify joy. Always include a card message in Vietnamese (we can translate) with the sender's name and relationship to the deceased.

What flowers go in a Vietnamese funeral wreath?

Vietnamese funeral tradition avoids red, orange, and bright yellows—colors tied to celebration and luck. White chrysanthemums, white or cream roses, and pale lilies are standard; many wreaths also include soft green foliage like salal or ruscus. The wreath must feel solemn and respectful, not cheerful.

We select blooms based on availability and season; a wreath ordered in January may differ slightly from one in July because Vietnam's climate shifts what farms grow. Ask us on WhatsApp what's fresh the week you need delivery—we'll describe options and send a photo of the real design before it ships to the family.

How do I write a card message for a Vietnamese funeral wreath?

Card messages at Vietnamese funerals are brief, formal, and usually in Vietnamese. Write the sender's name (your name), your relationship to the deceased ("friend," "colleague," "family"), and a two-line phrase of sympathy such as "Xin gửi lời chia buồn sâu sắc" (Please accept our deepest condolences). Avoid long, personal stories—funerals are formal events and the family is grieving. If you do not speak Vietnamese, we can translate your English message into proper funeral Vietnamese; send it on WhatsApp and we'll verify tone and wording before we print the card.

Never include jokes, bright language, or references to moving forward quickly. Keep it respectful and brief.

When should I order a funeral wreath if I live overseas?

You need to know the exact date and time of the funeral before ordering. Vietnamese funerals often happen 2–5 days after death; the family may announce the date by phone call or WhatsApp. Once you confirm the date with the family (or ask a local contact to confirm), order immediately.

We deliver in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in 5–10 business days from the date you order. Do not order a wreath to anywhere else in Vietnam—we cannot guarantee delivery outside those two cities.

How sending from abroad works

If the funeral is in 3 days and you are ordering from the US, you are likely too late (US–Vietnam is 11–13 hours ahead). In that case, ask a family member in Vietnam to place a same-day order with a local shop, or send a monetary gift to help the family with funeral costs.

How do I make sure the wreath arrives on the right day?

You provide three pieces of information: the funeral date (day and time), the recipient's Vietnamese phone number (mobile, format +84 9xx xxx xxx), and the delivery address (street name, ward, district, city). We confirm all three on WhatsApp and send a photo of the real wreath—made fresh the morning of delivery—at least 2 hours before it arrives.

Comparison of delivery timing from overseas:

Sending locationTypical transit timeOrder by this dayArrives by
US East Coast7–10 days10 days before funeralDay of funeral ±1 day
US West Coast8–10 days10 days before funeralDay of funeral ±1 day
Europe5–7 days7 days before funeralDay of funeral ±1 day
Australia5–6 days6 days before funeralDay of funeral ±1 day

What can go wrong? Wrong phone number = the driver cannot contact the recipient to confirm delivery. Wrong address = the wreath is delivered to the wrong house. Wrong funeral date = the family is not home when the driver arrives. Double-check all three with the family before you press send on WhatsApp.

What is the difference between a wreath, spray, and casket spray?

Arrangement typeShape & useSizeCost basisWho it's for
Standing wreathCircular, easel-backed, placed beside casket or on altar60–90 cm diameterHighestImmediate family, close friends
Funeral sprayLong and low, draped on casket lid90–120 cm wide × 40 cm deepMedium-highSpouse, adult children, parents
Sympathy bouquetVase bouquet, taken home by family40–60 cm tallMediumColleagues, distant relatives, neighbors

A wreath is the most formal and visible choice; it stands on an easel and is seen throughout the service. Sprays drape the casket itself, so they are visible only if there is an open-casket viewing. Bouquets go home with the family after the service and can be kept, dried, or pressed. Choose a wreath if you want your respect to be formal and prominent; choose a spray if the family prefers casket flowers; choose a bouquet if you want something the family can keep.

We offer wreath and spray designs. Ask us on WhatsApp which fits the funeral custom of the family's religion or region—Buddhist, Catholic, and Confucian Vietnamese funerals have different etiquette.

How do I pay if I am sending from abroad?

You order on WhatsApp with your name, the recipient's details, the funeral date, and the card message. We send you a photo of the real wreath and a quote (a price in USD or EUR based on size and flowers). You then pay by international bank transfer or international credit card (Visa, Mastercard). We confirm payment and the wreath is made fresh the morning of delivery.

Bank transfer typically takes 2–3 business days from your bank to ours; credit card is instant. If you are ordering fewer than 4 days before delivery, use credit card to avoid a delay.

Can I add a second floral arrangement if the funeral is for two people?

Yes. You can order two wreaths (or a wreath and a spray) to be delivered to the same address on the same day. Send both requests on WhatsApp in one message, and we will quote both and deliver them together. Vietnamese funeral custom sometimes calls for matching or coordinated flowers if two people are being honored; let us know if you want them designed together or separately.

What to check before you order

  • [ ] Funeral is in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City? (We do not deliver elsewhere in Vietnam. If the funeral is elsewhere, stop here and contact a local shop.)
  • [ ] Do you have the exact funeral date and time? (Order only after the family confirms the date. Do not guess.)
  • [ ] Do you have the recipient's mobile phone number in Vietnam? (Format: +84 9xx xxx xxx or 09xx xxx xxx. Without it, the driver cannot find the address.)
  • [ ] Do you have the street address, ward, and district? (Google Maps link or landmark is helpful. Avoid "near a café" or "opposite the market"—be specific.)
  • [ ] Do you know if the family prefers white, cream, or pale pink flowers? (Ask them, or stick to white—it is safe for all Vietnamese funeral traditions.)
  • [ ] Can you write or translate a 1–2 line card message in English? (We translate to Vietnamese. Avoid jokes and long stories.)
  • [ ] Can you pay by international bank transfer or credit card within 3 days? (If the funeral is sooner, credit card is faster.)
